ANNOUNCEMENTS

Sent: Friday, April 04, 2008 8:25 AM
Subject: Science in the 21st Century, #1

Dear Participants,

Since yesterday, the registration for our conference

Science in the 21st Century,
Science, Society, and Information Technology

is open. If you receive this email, you do not need to fill out the form, but in case you have friends or colleagues who might be interested in attending our meeting, please let them know they can now register at

http://www.science21stcentury.org/

Also, at this time I would like to ask you to send me a title and abstract for your presentation. All talks will be one hour long. If you would prefer a shorter time period, please let me know. If you would like to suggest some other form of event instead of a talk (like e.g. some interactive session, or discussion), this would be welcome, also just let me know.

Please keep in mind, that the research interests of the conference participants are fairly diverse, so your presentation should be on a non-specialist level accessible to every one of us.

Further, we have added a section on our website which lists blog reactions

http://www.science21stcentury.org/discussion.html

which open the opportunity to start a discussion of interesting topics prior to the meeting. Given the interdisciplinarity of the conference, we want to encourage you to possibly identify overlapping areas of interests prior to the meeting (this might be helpful especially if you are still thinking about the content of your presentation).

You will also find on the list of participants that many of you write blogs, so get in touch.

In case you want to write a blog entry about the upcoming conference, or a topic that falls within its scope, please either let me know of it (just send an email or leave a comment on my blog), or add the technorati tag "science21" so we can find your posting.

You should have been contacted by Kate Gillespie who takes care of the travel arrangements. In case you have not heard from her, her email address is

kgillespie[at]perimeterinstitute.ca

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,

Sabine
